Silhouettes are currently a hot trend in decorating.
sil·hou·ette (sil′ə wet′)
noun
- an outline, esp. a profile portrait, made either by cutting from black paper and fixing on a light background, or by drawing and then filling in with a solid color
- any dark shape or figure seen against a light background
The traditional black and white contrast is a great way to introduce a crisp sophistication into your decor through graphic elements. I also like the colorful options readily available today.
These adorable lithographs are available through Ballard Designs ranging in price from $24 to $39.
There are also some really great silhouette wall decals available. Check out these located at www.etsy.com
Silhouettes don’t have to just be on the wall, however. Consider some throw pillows.
I also can’t resist this cute pillow with blue birds.
If you’re feeling creative and inspired, try your hand at creating your own silhouettes.
Now, tell me…what are you inspired by?
