It’s all in the details

Secrets that Sell, Get it Sold, and Designed to Sell are several of my favorite HGTV shows.  These programs focus on staging a home for the real estate market.  Not sure where to begin?

                                     Start with the front door.

  • What do you see as you enter the room?  Is it inviting and welcoming?
  • Do you trip over piles of shoes and the kids’ backpacks?  De-clutter! Make sure everything is in its own “home.”
  • What about adding some fresh plants in pretty pots or some flowers?
  • Don’t forget the lighting!  If you don’t have great natural light at the foyer, add a beautiful lamp on a buffet, desk, or other type of table.  No room for a table?  Overhead lighting is fine but consider an attractive light fixture for greater impact.

Check out these videos at HGTV.com (links below) to get a better idea of how staging can make an incredible difference to potential buyers.  Unfortunately there are commercials prior to the videos, so be patient – it’s worth it!

Words to live by:

Don’t forget the cobwebs!

Even the “little things” count.

The outside is the new inside.
