One of the reasons clutter piles up around our houses is that when we buy something, it inevitably comes with excess packaging. If you have children, then you know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever tried to remove a Barbie from it’s package! Even my kids ask me why toys are so hard to remove from layers of packaging and a multitude of twist-ties. So here’s an idea – try to use the packaging to help with organizing when possible. Here is the perfect example. Today I purchased a reed diffuser. As I removed the diffuser from it’s packaging, I noticed it had two small boxes as part of the overall packaging.
There is also a pretty insert (below boxes) which would make a great bookmark! (Can you tell I like to re-purpose items?)
So, here is how I put these two sturdy little boxes to work in my junk drawer (yes, I have a junk drawer – I just like it to be organized!):
Here is another idea. If you receive a monthly coupon book in the mail like I do, remove the coupons you plan to use, and use the rest of the book as a notepad by the phone or in the car. I am always needing a notepad in the car for one reason or another (i.e. to make a shopping list, to write down a message from a phone call, etc.). Remember, one side of the paper is completely blank. These little coupon books are the perfect size to stick in your purse or car and it’s a great way to recycle!
